Dear Ackerman School Alumni, Classmates and Friends,        

     The time for the 2004 Ackerman School Reunion is fast approaching.  It is time to mark the calendar and start making plans to be present for a lot of fun and fellowship. The date is Saturday, April 24, 2004 and will again be in the Ty Cobb Complex.  Registration will begin at 12:00 Noon and the program will begin at 2:00 P.M. 

     The reunion committee has been working hard and we are excited about the planned program and activities that you are sure to enjoy.  Registration will be a little different this year, as we will register by the class with which you were associated. Teachers and/or coaches will register separate from specific classes.  There will be signs designating the table for specific class registration.  When you register, please provide us with the most current information regarding addresses, phone number, and e-mail address, in order that we may better communicate with you about upcoming reunion plans.  

     This year we are going to involve some of the very talented students currently in the Ackerman school program.  We also have some important business matters that we need to resolve in order that future reunions will continue in an orderly manner.   

      Class Reunions

     I am also excited about the separate class reunions that are planned for this year.  The class of “54” will be celebrating its 50th anniversary with some well planned activities that start Friday evening and continue through Saturday that include the school reunion, and a Sunday church service with lunch afterwards.  It’s not too late to bring your class together for a reunion during the April 24 weekend.

     Band Reunion - "Mr. Mac" Era

     Wayne McDonald, former AHS band director, is calling his members (1966-73, 82-84) for a reunion of the “Mr. Mac” era of the band. “Mr. Mac” invites all his former members to attend the general reunion at 2:00 p.m. and meet him at Pap’s Restaurant at 5:00 p.m. for dinner and fellowship. Mr. Mac also want all members of beginners bands under his direction to attend. He is looking forward to getting together after all these years to "catch up."      The AHS Reunion on Saturday, April 24, 2004, will not be complete without you. I know you will be making plans to be there.  I hope you will get in touch with the people that you know that are or have been associated with the Ackerman School and encourage them to be there.

Class of 1954 Reunion

     Silas M. Dobbs, Jr. (AHS Class of '39 or '40) has multiple health problems and currently resides at a nursing home in Columbus, MS. His mind is bright and he often reminisces of Ackerman. He would love mail or e-mail from anyone who might want to correspond. He and his wife, Nettie Oswalt Dobbs, celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary on Valentine's day. They will both be moving soon to Trinity Place in Columbus, Nettie in the retirement apartments and S.M. in the Healthcare section. The address listed below is for Linda Dupler (daughter). I will be glad to hand deliver any correspondence to him.
